Overview:
Sitamarhi Group of Temples is a collection of seven small temples situated in Sitamarhi district of Bihar State in India. Situated on the banks of Little Gandak River, the temples are considered to be a pilgrimage centre for Hindus. These seven temples are dedicated to the revered Hindu Goddesses and Gods and believed to be built in the late 8th to early 9th century. The temples are known for their fine sculptures and intricate carvings. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The most prominent feature of the Sitamarhi Group of Temples is the seven small temples, dedicated to the Hindu deities—Goddess Durga, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva. All the temples feature several intricate sculptures and carvings. Inside them, there are various idols of Hindu gods and goddesses, such as Gopinath, Parvati, Jagadmen, Kapileshwar, and Vaishno devi.
