Overview:
larayaswami Temple is one of the popular temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The temple is built in the traditional style of South Indian architecture and is believed to have been erected by the Chola kings. It is believed that this temple was built in the 10th century during the reign of the Chola king Rajaraja Chola I. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The main deity of the temple is Lord Chintamani Vinayagar (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu) and it also houses idols of Lord Shiva and Lord Murugan. Other than the presiding deity, the temple also hosts the idols of Surya and Chandra devas. The temple's walls are adorned with beautiful sculptures of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, and other deities from the Hindu pantheon.
