Chouaburji-Castle or Factory of Cheul In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
The ruins of the castle, today, include two large bastions, which face out towards the city wall and the graveyard of old Multan city. The walls of the castle, built of burnt bricks laid in mud, are approximately 8-10 feet thick, surrounded by a three-metre wide ditch, which runs around the exterior. The castle is triangular in shape, and its walls include crenellations providing a safe place for its defending forces. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The Chouaburji-Castle or Factory of Cheul is famous for its three-storied staircases which lead to its towering main bastion in the centre of the structure. These staircases have an interesting double twist: one for the ascent, and the second for the descent. The unique architectural feature of the stairs adds a unique beauty to the ruins, making it an ideal spot for movie shoots and for those who are passionate about ancient architecture.
