Kalyani Tank is a large historic water reservoir or tank located near Bangalore in Karnataka, India. It was originally built during the 16th century by the Wodeyar dynasty of Mysore State. Thereafter, Kempegowda, the founder of Bangalore, enlarged the tank in 1568. The tank is now designated under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Kalyani Tank was originally built during the 16th century, probably by Bola Raya of Yalahanka Dynasty. The tank was then erected by Kempegowda, the founder of present-day Bangalore. The size of the tank is 15 acres. Its main purpose is to serve the nearby agrarian communities. The tank is surrounded by a bund of stones and lined with limestone lengthwise. History:

Kalyani Tank has four inlets or sullies linked to the surrounding hills for filling the water. On the western side of the tank, there is a tower referred to as Shettihalli, which is used as a watch tower for providing an alert for impending flooding.
