Kalyani Tank In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Kalyani Tank was originally built during the 16th century, probably by Bola Raya of Yalahanka Dynasty. The tank was then erected by Kempegowda, the founder of present-day Bangalore. The size of the tank is 15 acres. Its main purpose is to serve the nearby agrarian communities. The tank is surrounded by a bund of stones and lined with limestone lengthwise. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
Kalyani Tank has four inlets or sullies linked to the surrounding hills for filling the water. On the western side of the tank, there is a tower referred to as Shettihalli, which is used as a watch tower for providing an alert for impending flooding. The tank also has an old temple called Rama Tirth Kshetra. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
