Overview:
Chhatari near Bardhaghat is a historical monument in the Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh, India. It was built by the Gond ruler Raja Madansahi in 1720 as a memorial to his father, Madan Singh. The monument stands on a rocky hill near the Guru Ghat ghat (steps) in the Narmada river. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The two storey structure is made of grey sandstone and is an example of Gond tribal architecture. It has an intricately carved entrance and intricate chhatri's & dome with nine spires. It is 20 feet high and is adorned with detailed carvings in a peculiar style. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour

Raja's Chhatari was built by Madansahi, the Gond ruler in 1720 at the site of the ashes of his father, Madan Singh. Earlier, Madan Singh had ordered the construction of a temple for the deity Ajaibnath at the same spot. It is believed that the temple was originally surrounded by an elephant stable. Over centuries, the structure of the monument has been modified several times according to the requirements of the local rulers.
