The Sidi Sayyed Mosque, also known as Sidi Saiyyed ni Jali, is located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The mosque was built in 1573 by Sidi Sayyed, an Abyssinian architect in the service of Sultan Ahmed Shah I of Gujarat. It is a classic example of the exquisite stone-carving art of the period and is renowned for its exquisite stone-carving tracery on its back walls depicting the famous interlaced design called "Tree of life". The mosque is a square structure with ten semi-circular windows, each representing one of the ten major avatars of Hindu god Vishnu. It is the last of the ten mosques built by him in the city. The mosque is built mostly in yellow sandstone, though the main entrance is made of opulent white marble. The main entrance is exquisitely carved with a four-centred arch, intricately lace-like stone trelliswork windows, and stucco-embossed patterns set within an expansive pillared verandah. The interior consists of a forami-style courtyard surrounded by a colonnade with mehrab on the west wall. A polygonal chamber is located at the centre of the hall, with an opening to the sky above.
