The mosque was built in a unique structural style and is one of the earliest examples of Indo-Islamic architecture. The mosque consists of a large central hall with four towering minarets, an arched entrance with a Nandi statue, and several smaller subsidiary shrines on the sides. The minarets of the mosque are the most prominent feature, supported by hollow cylindrical stilts mounted atop the roof of the mosque. These minarets were designed to 'shake but not fall' by earthquake resistance engineering when a pulley system is operated from the ground. The mosque is made from timber, and its walls are made from granite and lime plaster.
