Brief History:
Shahi Masjid, also known as Shahi Langar, is a grand mosque located in Kancheepuram district in Tamil Nadu state, India. It is considered to be one of the grandest mosques in the state. It is said to be the second largest mosque in the world after the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca. The mosque is believed to have been built during the rule of Sultanate of Bijapur in the first half of the 16th century and was renovated in 1882. There is a large open hall with a grand entrance which overlooks the Idgah. It has a large dome and a number of minarets. The mosque has been declared a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India, and it is said to be the oldest standing mosque in the state. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.

, the Shahi Masjid in Kancheepuram is a Mughal style mosque that dates back to 1673, when the local Sultan built the sandstone and mortar structure. The most distinguishing feature of the mosque is its large dome, which rises to a height of almost 70 feet and is flanked by two minarets, each 50 feet high. The mosque has three archways, with the largest one in the center providing access to the main prayer hall. The two smaller doorways, to the left and right of the main one, are used as entrance points for women. The northern and southern walls of the mosque are decorated with calligraphy. Inside the mosque, there are total of five arches, which are all intricately carved with designs featuring flowers, stars and geometric patterns. The ceilings of the mosque are adorned with chandeliers and the walls are covered with floral and abstract motifs. The floor of the mosque is made up of polished black stone and is intricately patterned. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
