pa Naik's Fort (also known as Savanadurga or Savandurga or Savana Durga) is an ancient fort located in the Indian state of Karnataka. It was constructed by Shivappa Naik, a general in the army of Kempe Gowda, in the 16th century. Situated atop the rugged hills of Savanadurga at a height of 1350 meters, it is a major tourist attraction in Karnataka. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
• Shivappa Naik's Fort is a fine example of military architecture. The fort is built around a natural hill, with vertical walls and bastions. • The Fort is equipped with several powerful and well-designed water tanks for water supply for the troops and local population. • The Fort has two main gates along with a few secret gates.
