t Stupa and other remains locally known as Sujata garh is an ancient Buddhist relic site located in the village of Sujata, in the Rajgir Block, Nalanda district of Bihar, India. It is believed to be the site of the story of the Buddha's enlightenment as described in Buddhist literature. The remains consist of a remnant of ancient brick walls, a large Stupa, several votive stupas, and some masonry structures. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The remains of Sujata Garh were discovered in 1950s by a team of BHU archaeologists led by Divine. The remains include a portion of an ancient brick wall, a large Stupa, votive stupas, and masonry structures present in the area. The structure of the stupa is similar to that of a Sri Lankan Stupa which makes the site even more interesting. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour

The origin of the relic site is surrounded by stories and various versions in Buddhist literature. It is believed that the stupa is the spot where Lord Buddha gained enlightenment after consuming a bowl of milk-rice offered by a village girl named Sujata. It is also believed that the stupa was originally built by King Bimbisara of Magadha as an expression of his gratitude for the Lord.
