Brief History:
is a mosque located in the town of Buxar, Bihar, India. It is believed to have been built in 1766 by the last Mughal emperor, Shah Alam II. The mosque spread over an area of about 10,000 sq. ft. is a testimony to the superb craftsmanship and architecture of those times. It has a domed structure and is adorned with four minarets and decorated with intricate red and white angular designs. It has beautiful domes, mosques and a reservoir inside the complex, making it one of the most beautiful mosques of India. It is visited by thousands of devotees every year. Architecture:
The Shahi Masjid of Buxar is a World Heritage Site and one of the most prominent relics of Mughal architecture in India. It was built by Mughal emperor Akbar in 1596, during his campaign to expand the Mughal Empire into eastern India. The mosque features a large dome with four minarets, three of which are detached from the main structure. The main prayer hall is covered with detailed stucco and cut marble carvings, and is enclosed by two ten-meter tall marble columns. The mosque is also decorated with intricate tile work and has four courtyards, arches, and a grand entrance. The mosque also contains a large bell, which is used to recite the Islamic call to prayer before services begin. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
The Shahi Masjid in Buxar, India is open to visitors from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week. Visiting for prayer services is free of charge, but donations are accepted. best mosque in the world.
