Brief History:
Nagoor Dargah is a 17th century Islamic shrine located in Nagoor, Tamil Nadu, India. It is the final resting place of the Sufi Saint Hazrat Shree Nagoor Andavar. The shrine is dedicated to Hazrat Shree Nagoor Andavar and his brother Hazrat Shree Syed Masthan Sha Abul Hasan Kantha Sahib, who passed away in 1625. The shrine is one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations for both Hindus and Muslims in India. Every year thousands of devotees visits the dargah to pay respect and offer prayers to the Saint when it’s annual Urus ceremony takes place. The dargah is also home to several festivals such as the Milad-un-Nabi and Buddha Purnima celebration. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Nagoor Dargah is an important religious monument located in Nagoor, a small village near Karaikudi in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The structure is composed of two chambers: an inner sanctorum and a dome-covered prayer hall. The entire structure has been constructed in traditional Indian style architecture, with intricate carvings, paintings, motifs and inscriptions. The entrance leads into a large anteroom with beautiful arches on both sides. The main chamber is divided by walls with a large central arch. Opposite the main arch is a pulpit where the shrine is located. This shrine is a large, multi-tiered structure of carved marble, with silver-plated doors in the front. The dome of the dargah is an impressive sight, made of intricately carved and painted stonework. It is decorated in geometric patterns and ornate scenes from Islamic mythology and history. Above the dome stands an open-sided pavilion with pillars and entrances. The prayer hall has a large central chamber with seating for worshipers, while small chambers along the walls contain bookstalls selling religious books and literature. Outside, the main entrance is framed by two tall minarets that rise up from the entrance gate. The small town of Nagoor includes the tombs and ziarat of the three saints it is associated with, as well as many other local attractions. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

The Nagoor Dargah in Tamil Nadu is open for visiting from 7 am to 8 pm every day. On Friday, the visiting hours are from 10 am to 12 pm. best mosque in the world.

Nagoor Dargah is located in the Kanyakumari district about 2 km from the town of Nagoor. The dargah is an important pilgrimage destination for Muslims in India, as it holds a shrine of the renowned Haji Syed Shahul Hameed Quadri. There is no direct train or flight facility to reach the dargah. The nearest railway station is located in Tirunelveli about 80 km away. The nearest airport is situated in Thiruvananthapuram about 163 km away. One can take a bus from Thiruvananthapuram, Tirunelveli or Kanyakumari to reach the dargah. Taxis and auto-rickshaws are also available from the towns nearby. The best time to visit the dargah is between October and February. beautiful masjid.
