Megalithic Cists,Chedalpakkam is a megalithic burial site located near Chennai in Southern India. This site has a series of large stone burial chambers which were used by Iron Age inhabitants of the area between 1000 and 800 BCE. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
Megalithic Cists,Chedalpakkam consists of rectangular and circular stone chambers which were used for burial purposes. The chambers are made up of boulders and slabs of granite and are fitted with a lid-stone at the top. The chambers are also surrounded by a semii-circular cairn.
