The site consists of cists and cairns that date back to the Iron Age (800 BC- 200AD). It is an impressive megalithic structure containing a variety of stones and boulders arranged in circles, some of which measure close to 3 metres in diameter. The construction of these large megalithic structures is a testament to the engineering skills of the ancient people of Palliyagaram.
