Overview:
Manvadih Mound, or Vadifal, is an ancient archaeological site located in the tribal region of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is a pre-Harappan site dated to about 1500 BC and covers an area of about 25 acres. It's important for its potential to provide evidence of human habitation in this region from around the pre-Harappan era. It is believed to have been used as a fortified hill-fort by the local inhabitants before the advent of the Harappan civilization. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The main feature of Manvadih Mound is its circular shape, with a diameter of about 196 feet. There are 12 massive walls constructed with stone, with a thickness of up to 5-10 feet along the circumference. The structure is surrounded by a fortification wall in a concentric arrangement, consisting of an outermost layer of dry-stone wall measuring 10 feet in width and containing chapani (beehive) type projections at the corners. In the center of the fortification is a large flat area, believed to be a courtyard. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour

Manvadih Mound is believed to be the oldest fortified settlement in the region, predating even the Harappan civilization of the Indus Valley. It is also believed to have been the birthplace of an ancient tribal culture. The archaeological findings have also revealed that the mound was used as a ritual settlement and burial site.
