Overview:
Kali Gumti is an ancient temple built around 500 years ago by Maharaja Man Singh. It is dedicated to Goddess Kalika, who is an incarnation of Goddess Durga. The main temple is divided into four sections,each section dedicated to different deities and connected by four cascading steps. The temple is situated near the banks of the River Ganges and is highly regarded by worshippers from all over the world. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
Kali Gumti complex is comprised of four temples, located in each of the four directions. The temple is constructed in a way that it enjoys the view of breathtaking scenery of the Ganges. 1. A sandstone image of Goddess Chandika is believed to be the self-manifested form of Goddess Durga. 2. Every year on the day of Navaratri, the entire temple complex is decorated with lights and devotees from all over India come for darshan. 3.The temple is also called "Kali Gumti Mandir" which means "Great Temple". 4.
