Overview:
Kailasanatha Temple, also known as Kailasantha/Kailasa Nathar Temple, is a Hindu temple located in the village of Vellanur, Tiruvannamalai district, Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and has been referred to in the Tamil works of Sangam literature. It is believed to have been constructed by the Pallava King Nandivarma I in the 7th century. History:
Kailasanatha Temple is a simple worship complex constructed in granite blocks, resembling the architectural style of the nearby Shore Temple at Mamallapuram. The temple is notable for its rock-cut sculptures depicting images of important Hindu gods, such as Shiva-Parvathi, Nataraja, Ganapati, Agastya, Durga, and Ananda.
