The Burial Cave of Kakkad (also known as the Central Cave of Kazhakuttam) is located in the Thiruvattam hills in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala, India. It is one of the oldest burial sites in India, dating back to the Neolithic age. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The site is made up of seven separate chambers and each chamber has human remains along with various artifacts. The artifacts include carved images of animals and other objects, as well as figures of deities. There are also evidence of post-burial activity, suggesting the presence of an Iron Age settlement at one of the other chambers.
