Overview:
ir Hari Devi, Bhawanipur is a Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Hari Devi (also known as Maa Durga). The temple is located in a neighbourhood of Bhawanipur, in South Delhi, India. It is believed to have been built by mahant Balak Das during the 18th century and since then has been devoted to the worship of Hari Devi. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple has a large structure, with a mandapa and a sanctum, flanked by two smaller shrines. The wooden walls of the sanctum are decorated with paintings depicting the life of Hari Devi. Outside the temple complex stands a huge kalash (water pot), believed to have been gifted to mahant Balak Das by the local chieftains. The temple also has a ghat leading down to the nearby Yamuna River. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
