It was built by Raja Surajmal in 1722AD and was modeled on the Moti Masjid of Agra. The mosque has three distinctive courts, with the innermost having a large hall for prayer. The walls are decorated with ornate stone carvings and detailed frescoes. The mosque, at its peak, can accommodate more than 15,000 devotees. The Jami Masjid of Kota is an impressive example of 18th century Indo-Islamic architecture. It was built in 1725 by Raja Ram Singh, a ruler of the princely state of Kota. The mosque is built of sandstone and features two large courtyards, a domed prayer hall, and four large minarets. The interior walls are decorated with intricate carvings and marble jalis (lattice screens), while the exterior facade has floral and geometric patterns inscribed in sandstone.
