Brief History:

is one of the oldest mosques in Kannur, Kerala. It is believed to have been constructed before the British rule in India, at a time that previous records regarding the mosque cannot be determined. However, a local folk tradition claims that the mosque was built in 1077 A.D. by a saint called Shaikh Juma Masjid bin Malik. The mosque has since been renovated several times and is mostly associated with the Mampilly family, which contributed much to the development of the mosque. The mosque's architecture is a combination of Islamic and Kerala architectural styles, and is located near the Thalassery Fort in Indian state of Kerala. It is one of the few mosques dedicated to worship to Allah in Kerala. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.

Architecture:

The Jama Masjid in Kannur, India, is a beautiful example of traditional Islamic architecture. The structure has four minarets with intricate carvings, four large domes and two smaller domes. The central dome has a large wooden cupola, which symbolizes the grace of Allah. The interior walls are decorated with intricately designed floral and geometric patterns. The walls feature elaborately designed Islamic calligraphy, and the entire mosque is constructed from locally cut stones. The monument is also surrounded by a portico, which provides shade from the hot local weather. The mosque is believed to have been built as part of the Mughal period in Indian architectural history, though there is no clear record of this. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
