Brief History:

Hazrat Khwaja Syed Hameeduddin Shah (ra), popularly known as Shah Asraf, was a highly revered Sufi saint of India, originally from Humnabad in Bidar district of present-day Karnataka. He is said to have been an excellent mathematician, astronomer and astrologer. He was the spiritual successor of Hazrat Khwaja Syed Moinuddin Sabir (ra) of Shijapur in Maharashtra. He traveled extensively in India for the propagation of Islamic faith and the teachings of the great sufi masters, and founded the sufi order of ‘Chishtia Hubliyya’ in Hubli, Karnataka. His teachings emphasize the importance of humility, virtue and piety. He died in Hubli in 1804, and his tomb became a popular site of pilgrimage, known as Dargah Asraf.
