Brief History:

Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin Dargah, is a 14th century dargah (mausoleum) located in Pune, India. It is dedicated to the Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya (r.a). This dargah was built by Gul Biyabani, the sister of Emperor Aurangzeb, after his death in 1325. The mausoleum is also known as the “Marble Tomb”. The main entrance to the dargah is marked by four minarets. Inside, visitors can admire the intricate carvings of Arabic verses, and it houses the remains of Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya (r.a). The dargah also serves as a pilgrimage site for Muslim devotees from across India, many of whom come to seek spiritual blessings from the saint. Every Thursday, devotees gather at the dargah to offer prayers and seek the blessings of the saint. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.

The dargah is renowned for its fine Sufi architecture and is the oldest Islamic structure in the city. The main shrine is surrounded by a large open courtyard and is home to a white marble dome that towers majestically in the centre. The walls and ceiling of the shrine are decorated with intricate jali work, while the courtyard is decorated with lush green lawns and lined with cypress trees. The main shrine also boasts of a flight of steps that lead up to a terrace offering a panoramic view of the city. There is also a marble fountain in the courtyard that is said to have healing properties and is used by devotees on days of religious importance. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
