Overview:
The Haveli Avadh is a prominent landmark and heritage site in the city of Lucknow. Constructed sometime in the late eighteenth century, it is one of the largest historical and archaeological sites in India. The fort has an imposing façade. Its entrance is an elaborate entrance with beautiful carvings and sculptures of birds, plants, flowers and animals. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The fort is made up of several towers, gates and courtyards. Inside the fort, you will find several halls and gardens. There is a central courtyard, where the king and his court used to meet. Other features include an exquisite library with a collection of books, manuscripts and paintings. There is also a secret garden, which was the retreat of the Nawab of Avadh.
