Chausath Yogini Temple In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
The Chausath Yogini temple is a circular building constructed on a small hill near the village of Ranipur Sirwar in Madhya Pradesh. The temple has a large circular plan with 64 small shrines arranged in concentric circles with a large shrine for goddess Mahakali at the centre. The temple is located atop a hill which can be accessed through a flight of stairs. Chausath Yogini Temple This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple is built with finely carved stones and decorated with carvings of deities and figurines. The 64 shrines of the Chausath Yogini temple contain figurines of 64 yoginis. Each figurine is beautifully sculpted, representing the avatar of each yogini. The figurines of the yoginis are made of sandstone and depict them in their various forms and postures.
