Brief History:
Bibi Ka Maqbara is a Mughal-inspired mausoleum located in Aurangabad, India. Built in 1679 by Mughal Emperor Aurangzebs son, Azam Shah, in memory of his mother Rabia Durani, the marble and sandstone structure is commonly compared to the Taj Mahal in Agra. Bibi Ka Maqbara stands amidst four acres of gardens, and features four minarets and grandiose entrances. Other features include sculpted lattice work and a central chamber with cenotaphs of Rabia Durani, Azam Shah, and two other wives of Aurangzeb. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.
Architecture:
The architecture of Bibi Ka Maqbara in Aurangabad, India is a blend of Persian, Indian and Mughal architectural styles. Built in 1679, it is a formidable imitation of the famous Taj Mahal. Its walls are of plain brickwork but the entire structure is clad with white marble, inlaid with detailed marble screens. The exterior facade of the mausoleum, with its four tapering minarets, is guarded by a large semicircular curtain wall. The entrance gateway has carvings, inscriptions, and marble screens. Inside the mausoleum, a central dome is supported by four corner kiosks. The interior is decorated with elaborate stucco carvings, columns, arches and inlaid marble screens. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
Bibi Ka Maqbara is open to tourists between 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on all days of the week except Fridays, when it remains closed. Visitors should reach at least one hour before the closing time. best mosque in the world.
