Ancient Bhagan Temple In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
The temple is a four pillared rectangle structure with stone walls and a thatched roof. The entrance to the temple has full sculptures of Hindu gods such as Lord Ganesha, Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu. The temple is home to 13 small shrines representing the 13 gods of the Hindu pantheon. The temple has four large roofed Pavana Mandapa (pavilion) entrances and is surrounded by pillared mandapas. History:
The main inner sanctum of the temple is known as the Garbhagriha, which is dedicated to Lord Subramanya, a form of Lord Shiva. Here, Lord Subramanya is depicted as seated on a six faced Nandi, a vehicle of Lord Shiva. The temple has numerous other sculptures, including one depicting a Shiva linga, a beautifully carved form of a peacock, and various other statues. The walls of the temple are adorned with intricate carvings depicting Hindu gods, goddesses, and their stories.
