Overview:
Humayun’s tomb is a magnificent and iconic Mughal-era structure in Delhi, India. It was built to house the remains of Mughal emperor Humayun and is generally considered the first major example of Mughal architecture in India. The tomb is located in the Nizamuddin West area of the city and is surrounded by lush gardens. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, "The sixteenth-century monuments of Delhi". This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
Humayun’s tomb is an impressive structure that combines elements of Persian, Timurid and Hindu architecture. The structure consists of a red sandstone outer shell with white marble accents. It has two stories and is topped with a double dome. The structure is inlaid with intricate decorations, including geometric and calligraphic designs. The gardens of the monument are divided into four quarters lined with pathways, fountains and trees. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
