Overview:
hesvaraswami Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in Tamil Nadu, India. It is dedicated to the deity of Shiva and is believed to be constructed in the 7th century. It is also believed that the temple was one of the 108 Shiva temples of Pandiyas. Uma-Mahesvaraswami Temple This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple has a main shrine which houses a Shivalingam, along with several smaller shrines for the other deities worshipped there. The temple also has a number of mandapas, a Dhwajastambha, a Prakara and a Garbagriha or the sanctum sanctorum. Apart from the deity of Shiva, the temple is also home to several forms of his consort Goddess Parvati such as Mahesvari, Rajarajesvari and Tripurasundari.
