Overview:
The Ancient Temple of Madh is an ancient temple situated in the city of Madhya Pradesh in India. It is believed to be around 4,000 years old and is a majestic example of the ancient Indian architecture. The temple is constructed in a very unique and special style that cannot be seen in any other Indian temple. History:
The temple is a unique blend of religious and architectural styles. The one-storied structure has a stepped series of pillared balconies with a dome-like roof and a square courtyard in the middle. The sanctum sanctorum has a Sabha hall, a wall painting gallery, an administrative hall, a meeting room and an audience hall. Apart from its unique architecture, the temple also has impressive sculptures and inscriptions of deities made from stone. The temple is decorated with images of dancers, musicians, God and Goddesses as well as Elephants and Horses. One of the historical monuments of India,it tells the story of a bygone era.
The history of the temple can be traced back to the 3rd century BCE. It is believed to have been constructed by King Shatrughan Pravir who was the successor of King Shatrughana. In the early part of the 4th century CE the structure was renovated and decorated by King Anandasena and his son, Hanuman. In the year 803 CE, the temple underwent major renovations and was further decorated by King Yashodhara. Later the temple was further renovated by King Banasura during the 11th century.
