Tamluk Rajbati In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Rajbati is a palace located in the former princely state of Tamluk, now the district town of Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, India. It was the former residence of the erstwhile Maharaja of Tamluk. The palace, set among sprawling gardens and ponds, is said to have been built at the end of the 18th century by Maharaja Narhari Singh. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
Tamluk Rajbati is a complex structure, with several courtyards, a central temple, and a main entrance gate. Its design is a fusion of Hindu and Muslim architecture, with domes and pavilions. The main entrance gate is an arched gateway with Corinthian columns in the center. This is followed by a square gateway, with two winding staircases leading to the main hall. Other prominent features of the palace include the two ornately carved and heavily decorated pillared halls, a pavilion, and a roof-top balcony. The palace also had several rows of rooms that were used to house the inmates of the state. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
