The United Church in Fiji In Fiji: History,Facts, & Services
The United Church in Fiji is a member of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand. It was established in 1947 when the then Union Church with its five member churches–the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, the United Free Church of Scotland, and the Primitive Methodist Church– merged. The merger created the United Church in Fiji, which today is known as The United Church in Fiji and Rotuma. The United Church in Fiji seeks to uphold the Gospel of Jesus Christ, providing spiritual care and support to its members and engaging in important social reforms and development work on behalf of the community. It ministers to nine different ethnic communities, including the Indian, Chinese, Taiwanese, and Rotuman peoples. The United Church in Fiji provides many services, such as daily worship, fellowship, bible instruction, religious education, Sunday School, and community outreach. It also offers a variety of pastoral care and counseling programs to help individuals and families in times of need.
