The Church of St Michael the Archangel, also known as “Loshitsa”, is one of the main religious and cultural monuments of the city of Minsk, located in Belarus. It was constructed in 1633-1634 in the Baroque style, which is typical of the Minsk architecture. The Church still stands in the original location, but was converted into a residential house in 1839. The Church's interior décor was also modified during the Soviet period, when paintings, stained glass, and icons were destroyed. Originally, the Church was partially built of brick and meant to be used for the needs of the Orthodox Church. The construction was funded by three Minsk nobles – Dmitry Zaborovsky, Lev Perovsky, and Pyotr Sarychev. The bell tower and sacristy were built later, and the belfry was added in the 19th Century. The Church is an important religious and cultural monument, as it was a key part of the spiritual life of old Minsk. It was a place of countless liturgies, religious ceremonies and worship services, a communion place for members of the Orthodox Church, and was well regarded in the city.
