Krestovozdvizhenskaya Chasovnya is an orthodox church located in St. Petersburg in Russia. It is one of Russia's oldest churches and is considered one of the most important churches in the country. The church was founded in 1713 during the reign of Tsar Peter the Great as part of his efforts to modernize the city. It is named after the feast of the Transfiguration, known in the Russian Orthodox Church as Krestovozdvizhenie. The History of Krestovozdvizhenskaya Chasovnya dates back to the early 18th century when Tsar Peter the Great founded the city of St. Petersburg and the nearby town of Krestovozdvizhensk. The building of the church was commissioned by Peter in 1713 with the completion of the building in 1717. The church was built in the Baroque style, incorporating elements from both Byzantine and Russian Orthodox architecture. The interior of Krestovozdvizhenskaya Chasovnya is richly decorated with elaborate religious paintings, frescoes, and icons.
