Brief History:
is one of the oldest and one of the most important of the many mosques in Barisal, Bangladesh. It was built in 1620 AD (1028 AH) by local people under the supervision of Shirazi Faqir Hossain, who was a descendant of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA). The mosque, which is located near the Banaripara bazaar, is an example of a fortified structure from both archaeological and architectural perspectives. It is made of bricks and supported by a large wall, and it stands as a symbol of the city's long history and vibrant cultural heritage. The mosque is a two-storied structure with a large central dome, three minarets, and a large prayer hall with a capacity of more than three thousand people. The mosque offers prayers five times a day and is open to all faiths. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bangladesh which you must visit.
Architecture:
The architectural style of Banaripara Jame Mosque in Barisal, Bangladesh is a classic example of Neo-Islamic architecture. The mosque is rectangular in shape, with two central minarets in a circular shape on either side of its two main gates. The minarets rise up to a height of over 33 meters and are intricately designed with curved domes and intricate floral patterns. The interior of the mosque comprises of a wide central hall and two semi-circular floral arches. The four sides of the mosque are adorned with intricate lattice and windowed decorations. The walls of the mosque are made of baked brick tiles and decorated with various stucco motifs. The four corners of the outer walls of the mosque contain four small domes, while the main dome is situated at the centre of the roof. This dome is beautifully decorated with wonderful motifs and Quranic inscriptions. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
