Brief History:
: Ashuganj Jame Mosque is the oldest and largest mosque in Brahmanbaria District, Bangladesh. The mosque was built by Sultan Bayezid II in 1515 AD and is considered to be one of the most important monuments of the Sultanate period. The mosque is built in a traditional Sultanate style with a single-storey stuccoed veranda and stands out for its beautiful tile-work. It is a three-domed structure with five arches and a central dome. The mosque can accommodate up to 500 worshippers. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bangladesh which you must visit.
Architecture:
The architecture of Ashuganj Jame Mosque in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh is traditional Bengali in style. The mosque is in a grand scale with a tall minaret, a single large dome, and four smaller domes on each corner. The four grand arches that form the façade of the building are adorned with intricate terracotta carvings. The walls and floors of the mosque are also adorned with intricate wall carvings. The interior of the mosque is decorated with turquoise tiles inlaid with floral motifs, Arabic inscriptions, and ornamental masonry. The building is painted white and the window panels are decorated with calligraphy. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
