Binat Bibi Mosque is one of the oldest surviving monuments in Dhaka. The mosque was built by Bakht Binat, the daughter of a local ruler, Shamsuddin Yusuf Shah, around 1454 during the pre-Mughal period. It is believed that this mosque was built on the site of an old Hindu temple. The mosque is renowned for its unique design and architecture which combines influences from both Hindu and Mughal traditions. It features an octagonal shaped enclosure with an open courtyard, on which stands four sandstone pillars and an elevated domed dais.
