Brief History:
: The Maulvi Bazar Central Jame Mosque is located in Maulvi Bazar, Bangladesh. It stands as the greatest and monumental structure in the town. The mosque was built in the 16th century by a Muslim saint called Maulana Musa, who was a descendant of Sayyid Shah Makhdum Yusuf. It was then further developed by figures such as Kalim Ashraf, Sayyid Muslehuddin, and Umar Faruq. The mosque is made out of terracotta and is known for its red bricks and intricate designs. The walls are adorned with elaborate geometric patterns and design elements. The windows are domed. There are four tall minarets at the four corners of the mosque. Inside the mosque, there are five domes. The mosque is large enough to accommodate a huge congregation of worshippers. It is one of the oldest and grandest mosques in Bangladesh. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bangladesh which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Maulvi Bazar Central Jame Mosque is located in Maulvi Bazar, Bangladesh. The mosque was constructed in 1859 by a Maulana Mujahid, and is built in a combination of Mughal and Bengal architecture. It features four corner towers and two small minarets. The main entrance features intricately carved stone blocks with terracotta and lime plaster. The prayer hall is large enough to accommodate up to 2000 people, and is decorated with ornamental niches with calligraphic motifs. Inside the hall, there is a raised mihrab and several panjikas (box-like structures). A large mihrab is constructed on the eastern side of the prayer hall, with two small mihrabs at each side. The walls of the mosque are decorated with fine carvings of plants and geometric figures. The ceiling is decorated with four domed niches, along the Drabon-patterned beams. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
