History:

Durrat Al Bahrain, located in the southern coast of Bahrain, is the largest marina and leisure destination in the Gulf Region. It was founded in 2006 by Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain. The marina opened in 2007 and is part of a larger residential and tourism development. Durrat Al Bahrain is made up of 20 islands that are connected by a series of bridges and causeways. The project was designed by international consultants Atkins, with local engineers WCTC Bahrain carrying out the technical superintendence. In 2012, Durrat Marina celebrated its 5th anniversary with a number of projects in progress including an expanded berthing area, a sewage treatment facility, heritage center and floating mosque. In 2013, Durrat Al Bahrain was awarded the LEED Silver certification for sustainable design and construction. Durrat Al Bahrain is home to many attractions including a beach club, yacht club, resorts, marina apartments and a golf course.
