The Zaqatala Juma Mosque (also known as the Friday Mosque or the Friday Table) is a 12th century mosque located in the town of Zaqatala, Azerbaijan. The mosque is made out of limestone and its essential parts date from the 12th-13th centuries. It was formerly a place of Islamic worship, and since 1949, it has served as a museum. The Zaqatala Juma Mosque is the only surviving pre-Seljuk period mosque in Azerbaijan. The mosque is significant for being the oldest preserved example of Seljuk mosque architecture in the region. The mosque building includes a single-aisled structure with a raised mehrab, prayer niche, and mihrab dome. The mosque is highly ornate with intricate patterned brickwork and a striking double-story facade. It is one of the most famous mosque in Azerbaijan which you must visit.
