Brief History:
Gadabay Juma Mosque is the oldest mosque in Azerbaijan. It is located in Gadabay Rayon, a region in the northwest of the country. Built in the 16th century, the mosque is one of the most impressive architectural structures in the region, showing features of Persian, Turkish and Caucasian architecture. The mosque is built with a large rectangular prayer hall with four columns and columns in the corners. The walls are decorated with various geometric patterns and brickwork and topped with a pyramid-shaped dome. The interior is very ornate, featuring a large platform and a very large altar. It is one of the most famous mosque in Azerbaijan which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Juma Mosque of Gadabay was built in the 19th century and is an Islamic religious structure located in the town of Gadabay in Azerbaijan. The mosque is a dome-shaped building and consists of two floors and a main hall that is 27 meters in length. The building is constructed of stone and features classical Islamic architecture with a decorative mihrab niche, arch-shaped windows and a large cupola above the prayer hall which is supported by an eight-sided colonnaded prayer hall. The mosque features main entrance gates decorated with beautiful Islamic patterns and inscriptions. On the inner side of the doorway is an inscription which reads, ‘O Allah! The Magnificent, the Ruler of all, preserve us from trials and tribulations’. The first floor of the mosque is used as a prayer hall and the outer walls are decorated with beautiful Islamic architectural patterns. The second floor of the mosque is used as a ceremonial and congregational meeting space. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
Gadabay Juma Mosque is open for visitors every day from 8am to 5pm. On Fridays, it closes for Friday prayers from 1:30pm to 4pm. best mosque in the world.
Travel Information:
Gadabay Juma Mosque is located in the town of Gadabay in Azerbaijan. To access it, one will have to take a bus from Baku to Ismayilli, then transfer to a minibus from Ismayilli to Gadabay. The mosque can be found at the entrance of the town on the right side. There is no public transport available from the mosque but there is a taxi service. beautiful masjid.
