The Baku TV Tower is a 375 meter tall, 1,372 foot tall lattice tower located in Baku, Azerbaijan. It is located on a hill overlooking the city. It is primarily used for telecommunication and broadcasting purposes. The tower was constructed in 1985 and is operated by the Azorean Republican TV and Radio Company. It was designed by the same company that designed the La Defense Tower in Paris, France. It was built to provide better telecommunication coverage of the city. The tower stands on a 12 meter tall reinforced concrete foundation. The base of the tower is constructed from reinforced concrete filled lattice cylinders and then it is covered with a 3 meter wide metal mesh. It has eight antennae points at the top and another 16 lower down. The top of the tower houses a restaurant with views down over the city. The restaurant was opened in 2002 and is called Astro Baku.
