St. Mary's Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church In Austria: History,Facts, & Services
History:
It is believed that St. Thomas established the church in Niranam in 52 A.D. and named it after the Virgin Mary. It is also believed that this church is the oldest Syrian Orthodox Church in all of India. The original structure of the church was destroyed by Muslim invaders in 835. St. Mary's Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Austria.

This historic church has acted as a center of evangelism and missionary work for the Malankara Church. In 1933, Igumen Athanasius Mar Mani was appointed as the first bishop of Niranam, a responsibility now performed by His Beatitude Baselios Thomas I. Services:
The primary activities revolve around weekly celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Qurbana on Sundays. The church also takes part in several annual religious events such as the Pentecost, Christmas, Easter and various vigils. Services are also held in the church for various social causes such as widow re-marriage, orphanages and employment support.This beautiful church in Austria has made a lot of significance in the past.
