St. George's Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral located in Southwark, London, England. The cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Southwark and the seat of its Bishop. It is also the London base of the Order of St. George, a worldwide religious and chivalric organisation. St. George's was built in 1884–85 by architect Sir Arthur Blomfield. History:

St. George's Cathedral was founded circa 600 AD by Saint Augustine at the request of Pope Gregory the Great, who had just arrived to England. In 1077 AD, Archbishop Lanfranc made the parish into a collegiate body and established the first stone structure on the land. After a fire destroyed the structure, the original St. George’s was rebuilt in 1609. The original cathedral was destroyed in the Great Fire of London and the present building was erected in 1822–1828 by the famed architect Sir Christopher Wren.
