The current building of Salzburg Cathedral is actually the fourth version of the cathedral. The first cathedral was built in 752 by the Archbishop Arno. It was destroyed in a fire in 1077 and the second cathedral was built in its place. This cathedral was equally destroyed the following year in 1078. The third cathedral was created in 1081 and served the city until the mid-14th century when it was struck by a powerful earthquake. The fourth cathedral, which still stands today, was built during the late 14th century and was completed in 1628.
