Pfarrkirche St. Jakob In Austria: History,Facts, & Services

Pfarrkirche St. Jakob is a Catholic parish church located in Munich, Germany. Built in 1921 and designed by noted architect Friedrich von Thiersch, the church is a combination of traditional Romanesque and contemporary Baroque elements. The large, well-maintained interior is decorated with a variety of stained glass windows and frescoes, while the exterior of the church features a 120-foot-tall bell tower. Pfarrkirche St. Jakob has a long and interesting history. After being heavily damaged during the Second World War, the church was rebuilt in the 1970s using a slightly different design than the original. It was declared a historic monument in 1985, and has become an important landmark in the city of Munich. Pfarrkirche St. Jakob is an active place of worship and hosts a variety of religious services throughout the week. The church is also a popular location for events such as concerts, baptisms, and weddings. It is open to the public for services, sightseeing, and photography. There is also a museum inside the church which contains artifacts from the Catholic and Protestant Reformation movements.
