Church of St. Nicholas is a traditional Anglican church located in the heart of Covent Garden, London, England. The present building dates back to 1686, when it was rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1666. St. Nicholas is considered to be a living symbol of an earlier age and is associated with some of the greatest figures in British history, such as Oliver Cromwell, Thomas Gray and John Dryden, who all worshipped here. The church was founded in the 12th century and destroyed during the Great Fire of 1666. It was then rebuilt, and the superstructure still standing today dates back to 1686. The building has a classical façade with Corinthian columns, a tall campanile and large stained glass windows. The interior features marble and porphyry columns, a Jacobean wooden pulpit and classic Victorian box pews. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Austria.

During the French Revolution, the revolutionaries cut off the head of a statue of King Charles I that they believed was on the site. It turned out to be a statue of Oliver Cromwell, the Lord Protector at the time. The church also gained notoriety when John Dryden, the English poet and playwright, married here in 1663.
