History:
The history of the cathedral dates back to the 9th century and is strongly linked to the cult of St. James. Built in the Romanesque style, it was consecrated in 1211 over the tomb of the Apostle James. Over the centuries various additions and modifications have been made, reflecting the various architectural and artistic trends of the time. A major restoration was completed in 2010, leaving the exterior and aisles looking much as they did in the 19th century. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Austria.

- Construction began in 1075 and was completed in 1211. - It consists of three main doorways, each one representing a different epoch. - The Cathedral measures 81 meters long and 55 meters wide, with a height of 63 meters. - The streets leading up to the cathedral form a large square – Plaza do Obradoiro – circled by granite balconies. - Inside the cathedral are nine chapels dedicated to the Virgin Mary, along with a crypt and a nave with richly decorated stained-glass windows.
