History:

Vallnord Arinsal is a ski resort boasting some of the best snow and views in the Pyrenees. Located in the tiny principality of Andorra, Vallnord Arinsal has been providing skiers and snowboarders from all over the world with the experience of a lifetime since the mid-1980s. The ski resort was originally owned by the local parish of La Massana and was opened in 1984. The intention was to revive the local economy by promoting ski tourism and thus encouraging people to visit Andorra in the winter. In 1991, Vallnord Arinsal was acquired by local businessman Íñigo de la Sota for 23 million pesetas. De la Sota invested heavily in the resort, building a gondola system that connected the lower part of the slopes with the upper area known as Pal. The gondola would become a key component of the resort, and was responsible for dramatically increasing its skiers and snowboarders. In 1998, SKI Arinsal SLU was established, and would go on to become Spain's most important ski resort. The company quickly increased the available activities at Vallnord Arinsal, such as sledding, snow tubing, night skiing and freestyle skiing. They also introduced a variety of discount packages and promotions. In 2014, Vallnord Arinsal joined with the ski resorts of Pal-Arcalis and Ordino-Arcalis into one single ski area known as Grandvalira. This combined ski area is now the largest in the Pyrenees and the seventh largest in the world. Today, Vallnord Arinsal is one of the most popular ski resorts in Europe. It continues to attract thousands of tourists each winter, providing them with the ultimate ski holiday experience. Visit one of the famous monuments of Andorra with your friends and family.
