Worship Method:
Guangji Temple in Tianjin, China is a Buddhist temple dedicated to Guanyin, the goddess of mercy in Mahayana Buddhism. The temple has a rich and long history, and follows a traditional Chinese Buddhist worship style. Worship at Guangji Temple begins with monks from the monastery leading worshippers in prayer. Monks recite sutras in a quiet and devotional manner, often accompanied by soothing background music. After the sutras have been read, worshippers are invited to make offerings of incense, fruits, and flowers to the Buddha, and to light oil lamps for the goddess Guanyin. Offerings to the gods are placed in front of the statues of the gods, accompanied by chants of mantras or prayers. Worshippers are then encouraged to bow before the goddess in reverence. Following the prayer, worshippers are invited to kneel and meditate on the teachings of the Buddha. It is believed that through meditation, they can become closer to the gods and gain enlightenment. At the conclusion of worship, worshippers receive a spiritual blessing, in the form of a blessing from a monk or a blessing from the Buddha itself. After final prayers to the gods, worshippers can receive any necessary healing prayers or treatments if needed. The experience is a peaceful and spiritual one, and provides the necessary calming and relaxation that comes with connecting to the divine. This most visited temple in China
